The Salvation Army will once again serve an in-person Thanksgiving meal to the public on Thursday, November 28, 2024. The tradition to provide a meal on Thanksgiving will be provided, in part, by the many volunteers who graciously give time to help bring their community together. The Salvation Army is currently seeking volunteers to help prepare and serve the meals, make deliveries to those who are unable to leave their home due to illness, as well as assisting in the set up and cleanup of this community event. The Salvation Army is also seeking donations of turkeys, pies, green beans, canned cranberries, and potatoes to be used for this meal.
The Thanksgiving meal will be served on Thanksgiving Day from 11am-1pm and everyone is invited and welcomed to attend. Although the main entrance will be open, due to the limited parking on State Street, patrons are encouraged to enter through the rear door of the 107 West State Street building where they will be greeted and directed to the location of the meal.
The Salvation Army relies on volunteers to make this event a success. “Each year The Salvation Army hosts this event, but it truly becomes a community event because of the many volunteers who come together to serve and spend time with their neighbors”, stated Envoy John Hofer. Those wishing to volunteer should visit salarmymarshalltown.org to sign up or call 641-753-5236. This meal is not possible without the help of volunteers from across Marshall County.
