We create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
We partner with parents/guardians, volunteers and others in the community to hold ourselves accountable for each child in our program achieving:
- High aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships
- Avoidance of risky behaviors
- Educational success
What is universal to being a Big Brother or Big Sister is that most Bigs start out thinking they'll give something back, yet most end up saying, "I get back so much more than I give." As a Big, you are simply a friend. We offer community-based and school-based program options. Busy people of all ages can get involved, and you can choose the program that works best for you.
Big Brothers and Big Sisters are the positive role models so vitally important to children between the ages of 6-18 who are facing adversity. They may be struggling at school, with relationships with peers or at risk of engaging in harmful behavior. Just by sharing experiences, celebrating accomplishments, and listening to a child's concerns, a Big Brother or a Big Sister has the opportunity to reach an at-risk child before the risk team reaches them, inspiring them to reach their potential.
Just think about it; young adolescents saying "no" to drugs and alcohol, improving their school attendance, getting along better with their families and peers--all because they had Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
