Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging, or NEI3A, is a private, not-for-profit corporation serving individuals 60(+) with their evolving needs by allowing access to many supports that empower them to live with dignity in the community of their choice.
What We Do
Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging coordinates services for individuals to help them maintain the independence they desire. Services we provide include option counseling, case management, meal programs, caregiver support, respite services, consumer protection, evidence-based health programs, advocacy, and recreation and education programs. We serve the following counties in Iowa: Allamakee, Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Chickasaw, Clayton, Delaware, Dubuque, Fayette, Grundy, Hardin, Howard, Jackson, Marshall, Poweshiek, Tama, and Winneshiek.
Three NEI3A programs have a statewide or nationwide scope. All three are funded by grants from the U.S. Administration for Community Living (ACL): the Iowa Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP), the SMP National Resource Center, and the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) National Technical Assistance Center. The mission of the Iowa SMP program is to empower and assist Iowa's Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers to prevent, detect and report health care fraud, errors, and abuse through outreach, counseling, and education. NEI3A's national centers serve SMPs and SHIPs nationally as central sources of information, training, and technical assistance. They also serve as a resource to members of the general public and also to 1-800-Medicare by providing online SMP and SHIP locators.
